CA Tritons Vs MLC Duel in the Pool |
On Saturday 14th November, the CA Tritons and MLC competed in a dual meet at the Carey Sports Complex. The emphasis of the meet was to race fast in an effort to win the race and score maximum points. MLC Aquatic got out to an early lead after the FS Relays and Butterfly events. Dicing between the Backstroke, Breaststroke and Freestyle disciplines, there was never more than 10pts separating the teams. Dependant on age, athletes competed in 50m, 100m and Skins events with some extremely tough racing occurring with the back 50’s on a 2 minute cycle. Heading into the IM events 12 pts separated the teams. Upon conclusion of the IM events the CA Tritons hit the front leading into the final 6 IM relays and 8 x 50fs relay by 4pts. MLC made an early charge and took back the lead heading into the Male 14/15yrs IM relay. An exciting relay then ensued bringing the pointscore back to an even spread. On the next 2 events the scored evened out coming down to the final event on the program – 8x50fs relay. An early lead was taken by the CA Tritons with MLC not far behind. As the legs progressed and the ages got older, the race got tighter. Coming into the last leg a body length separated both teams. Gladly CA Tritons held onto the win to record a narrow victory in the event and take out the meet by 2 points. Congratulation’s is to be expressed to all swimmers from both teams for partaking in a quick, fun, action packed and exciting swim meet. To the parents who acted as officials the meet could not have run without your input and assistance. To the coaches, congratulations on priming your athletes for the event and we wish you all the best for the rest of the swimming season. See you again in 2010. President, CA Tritons
